WGN News recently profiled islet transplant recipient, Suzi Johnson. Doctors from the CDP team performed the transplant at the University of Illinois-Chicago Medical Center and now Suzi no longer needs insulin injections.
Dr. José Oberholzer is the director of the Chicago Diabetes Project. He is also the coordinator and director of cell transplantation at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine.
